It may be possible to update one section of a training film while retaining the rest. That depends on how the original material was made, which files are available and how widely the change affects the lesson. A small process change should first be reviewed against the whole film.
Find the source material and usage rights
Locate the editable project, original footage, narration and graphics where available. Confirm permission to reuse them. Having a finished video file is helpful, but it does not always provide the same editing options as the original production files.
Check every reference to the changed step
A new instruction may affect the introduction, demonstration, captions and closing recap. Identify these references before estimating the update. Replacing one shot while leaving contradictory narration elsewhere can make the revised film confusing.
Match the replacement material
Consider the location, lighting, presenter, sound and appearance of equipment. A new voiceover or graphic may be enough for some changes; others require filming. Export and review the complete revised film so the updated section works in context.
