An evacuation scenario involving visitors can add a communication challenge to training: people may not know the building, the instructions or who to approach. VR can support discussion of an approved plan, developed with the responsible safety and training professionals.
Use the actual emergency arrangements
Define the learner’s role and approved responsibilities. Agree which aspects of the plan the exercise will practise. Do not invent evacuation routes, assistance procedures or instructions for a particular premises.
Focus the scene on the learning task
A scenario might ask the learner to recognise a visitor’s question and choose an appropriate communication or escalation step. Plan the information presented and how the trainer reviews the response. Avoid dramatic effects that distract from the purpose.
Keep practical preparation in place
An immersive exercise does not replace required instruction, drills or competent assessment of the premises. High5VR can help develop the content as an add-on to the organisation’s existing programme.
High5VR works with professional trainers at Bhuku on appropriate training projects. The trainer input and responsibilities are agreed for each scope.
