Can viewers move around inside a VR film, or only look around?

Looking around changes the direction a viewer sees from the experience’s viewpoint. In a filmed 360 scene, that viewpoint is determined by the camera position during recording. Turning the head does not recreate footage from a new position beside an object.

When can someone move through a scene?

A modelled environment may support movement if that behaviour is designed into the application. Other experiences move the audience along a prepared route or between recorded viewpoints. These are different capabilities. A production demo should make clear which movement is available and how users control it.

What belongs in the brief?

Describe whether viewers will sit, stand, change scenes or explore independently. Agree the equipment and viewing space as well as the intended story. High5VR can explain the implications for capture, modelling and testing. Do not assume that every film described as VR supports walking around its world.
