How do you guide viewers through a film when they can look anywhere?

In an immersive film, viewers can explore the surrounding scene. The story therefore needs cues that help them understand where important activity is happening. High5VR considers the arrangement of action, sound and movement when planning first-person or 360° storytelling.

What should we consider?

A character’s position, a change in sound or an event within the environment may encourage attention. These cues should serve the story and feel consistent with the scene. Simply placing several competing actions around the audience can make the narrative difficult to follow.

What needs to be agreed?

Timing matters because viewers may be looking in different directions. Test whether essential information is understandable without assuming everyone follows exactly the same viewpoint. The intended viewing devices also affect how the audience encounters the scene.

How do we get started?

Share the story and the experience you want viewers to have. We can discuss staging, animation or filming choices around that objective. Immersive production changes the creative brief, so attention and narrative clarity should be planned before the final edit.
