How can employees practise difficult situations before facing them?

A difficult situation might involve an unfamiliar conversation, a competing priority or a decision made with incomplete information. Select one learning objective and use an approved example. Avoid exposing learners to an unnecessarily intense scenario simply because the technology can present it.

Make the exercise manageable

Explain the learner’s role and the available choices before the activity starts. Agree how someone can pause or stop and what support is available. The instructor should know which parts of the scenario are illustrative and how to discuss them afterwards.

Use rehearsal as preparation

Role play, filmed scenarios and VR may offer different ways to rehearse a task. High5VR can discuss an immersive add-on with your subject specialists. Debrief the reasoning and limits of the exercise; practising a scenario does not guarantee the same outcome in a real encounter.
