VR Training Accessibility: Planning for Different Learner Needs

VR Training Accessibility: Planning for Different Learner Needs

VR training accessibility should be considered before interactions and content are finalised. Learners differ in vision, hearing, mobility, reading preferences and comfort with headsets. Identify the intended audience and involve representative users when planning the module.

Offer clear ways to follow the task

Readable text, spoken guidance, captions and simple controls may support different learners where appropriate. Consider contrast, pacing and the amount of information presented at once. No single feature makes an experience accessible to everyone.

Discuss alternatives

Some people may not be able to use the selected headset or interaction. Plan an alternative learning route and explain how it meets the objective. Facilitators need guidance for supporting users without requiring them to disclose unnecessary personal information.

Test with the intended audience

High5VR can agree accessibility requirements within the project scope and test relevant features with users. Record what was tested and any limitations. Improve the experience from those findings rather than claim universal accessibility based only on a design checklist.
