How do game engines turn a workplace into a realistic VR training environment?

A game engine can bring together a workplace’s digital assets, sound and interactions to create an explorable training environment. The goal is not simply to copy every visible detail. The environment needs to communicate the information required for the exercise while running reliably on the target hardware.

Build the details that affect the task

Start with approved references for the location and equipment. Identify the objects, distances and visual cues that matter to the learning objective. Decorative detail should not make important information harder to notice.

Connect objects to meaningful behaviour

An object may need to respond to a controller, show a change of state or trigger feedback. These behaviours must be specified and programmed. A detailed 3D asset does not automatically include working controls or an accurate simulation of the equipment.

Balance appearance and reliable operation

Review model complexity, textures, lighting and sound in the actual application. Test on the intended headset throughout development. A desktop preview or promotional image cannot establish how comfortably the full environment will run in a headset.

Discuss your project with High5VR

High5VR can discuss a modelled workplace around a specific training scenario. The brief should distinguish visual representation, required interactions and any behaviour that needs specialist validation.
